Today Zack Snyder, director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, surprised the internet with a late-night first look at Jason Momoa as Aquaman!

Pretty cool, right? The fish scale tattoo pattern along with his pieces of armor certainly create a cool effect, and his trident (that really isn’t a trident because it has five points?) is a pretty formidable looking weapon. The “unite the seven” message might refer to the seven seas, considering Aquaman is, well, king of the sea. However, perhaps it also hints at more Justice League reveals coming in the future.
Best known for his role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Momoa is set to first appear as Aquaman in Batman v Superman on March 25, 2016, followed by Justice League Part One in 2016. He’ll be featured in his own solo movie in 2018.
Snyder has been pretty quiet on Twitter over the last few months, so the evening tweet was a bit of a surprise. We can’t help but wonder if this is just the first of a series of Justice League teaser images. Keep your fingers crossed, and let us know what you think of our new Aquaman in the comments!
