6. I Robot, You Jane (Season 1, episode 8)
Another episode from season one that made it on the list is the episode ‘I Robot, You Jane.’ The episode is a mixture of the threat between technology and the supernatural, and follows Willow as she accidentally releases the demon Moloch the Corrupter onto the internet. ’I Robot, You Jane’ is by no means the worst episode of Buffy, but it isn’t altogether great either. It’s one of those episodes that’s just there. It’s unbelievably outdated and cheesy to watch, yet I can’t help love it for some reason. The references to emails as ‘e-letters’ and the interaction of Giles and Ms. Calendar regarding books and modern technology make this episode so terrible that I almost love it. But there’s always something that I can’t help but stress over every time I watch this episode- why, if Moloch was released into the internet, did he only stay on the school system? As a villain, you’d think his plans would have been much bigger.
