Filming for the Star Wars movie following a young Han Solo doesn’t start until next January, but Disney is getting a head start on casting its lead. According to Variety’s unnamed source, Disney and Lucasfilm have narrowed the list of potential Hans down to about a dozen names.
The list includes Miles Teller (Whiplash, Divergent), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, The Divergent Series), Dave Franco (Warm Bodies, Neighbors), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Macbeth), Scott Eastwood (The Longest Yard, Diablo), Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Percy Jackson), Emory Cohen (Smash, The Place Beyond the Pines) and Blake Jenner (Glee, Everybody Wants Some). The other names on the list were not revealed.
As we said before, the Han Solo movie won’t begin filming for a year, but with an official casting announcement scheduled in the upcoming weeks, there’s talk that whoever is chosen as young Han could appear in another stand-alone Star Wars film: Rogue One. While Han could fit into the story of a group of young folks stealing the plans to the Death Star, the timeline of the films don’t leave much wiggle room for surprise canon cameos. We’ll just have to wait and see.
