The New Season of Sherlock is Still Two Years Away

Sherlockians got a treat today with the first glimpse at the Victorian Sherlock Christmas special. And now there’s some news about Sherlock’s fourth season, but it isn’t good . You may want to sit down and brace yourselves.

We now know – courtesy of BBC - that series creator Steven Moffat told the Sherlock Comic-Con audience that not only will season four happen way off in 2017, they haven’t started writing it yet.

Hellacious waiting periods are, of course, nothing new to Sherlock fans. The hiatus between seasons two and three was two years, during which stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman were busy filming other projects. And luckily, there is the Christmas special to help tide fans over.

But four years without a new season is exceptionally rough.
