Ransom Riggs, author of the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series, has signed a new two-book deal with Dutton Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Books for Young Readers in the US.
The first of these two books will be called Tales of the Peculiar - an illustrated fairy tale collection set in the same universe as the Miss Peregrine books – and will be published in late 2016, just before the Tim Burton film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children hits theaters. Riggs’ previous Miss Peregrine books were published by Quirk Books.
The second book in the deal is an untitled young adult novel. At Dutton, Riggs will be collaborating with legendary editor Julie Strauss-Gabel, whose other authors include some of the biggest names in YA, such as John Green and Stephanie Perkins. Riggs has stated that he is “absolutely thrilled for the chance to work with the legendary Julie Strauss-Gabel and the whole Penguin Random House team, and to finally get these peculiar tales, which have been bouncing around my brain for years, down onto paper and out into the world.”
For her part, Strauss-Gabel has called Riggs “undisputedly one of the most visionary authors publishing today.”
The film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will be released in cinemas on December 25, 2016.
