Ever since the announcement at LeakyCon last summer, we have been waiting with bated breath for more news of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries novelization. That wait is now over!
In an announcement by the publisher Touchstone (an imprint of Simon & Schuster), the novelization will be entitled The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet: A Novel and will be released by Touchstone on July 1, 2014. That’s less than six months! It’s already available for pre-order in both hard-copy and ebook formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retailers.
The novel, which was co-written by LBD co-creator/executive producer/head writer/director Bernie Su and writer and consulting producer Kate Rorick (who is a best-selling historical romance novelist under the name Kate Noble), promises to be chock-full of the missing moments, extra details, and minutiae that we fans love to know. According to the publisher’s announcement, “The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet provides more character introspection as only a book can, with revelatory details about the Bennet household, including Lizzie’s special relationship with her father, untold stories from Netherfield, Lizzie’s thoughts and fears about life after grad school and becoming an instant web celebrity.”
According to Tubefilter, this is the first of a two-book deal with Bernie Su and Kate Rorick. Might we finally get the spin-off featuring Lydia coming in to her own that I’ve been wishing for? Or are they planning a similar adaptation of Emma Approved? Here’s hoping for more details soon!
I’ve got mine pre-ordered for my Nook– how about you?
