Paul Thornley Talks Ron’s Role in Cursed Child, Star Trek Cast Attends Play

With the official opening for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child fast approaching (July 30!!), Pottermore mentioned that we would be seeing more behind the scenes action regarding the play. Last week, we were treated to set designer Christine Jones giving us a peak at the amazing sets for the production. Today, actor Paul Thornley delves a little bit into his character of Ron Weasley in a featurette that shows more new clips of the cast hard at work.

Thornley reveals his character is working at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, as we already know, but some new information might be the fact that Ron takes on more of the day-to-day, childrearing aspects of the Granger-Weasley household. In the rehearsal clips and photos that we see here, it looks like Hermione gets quite emotional about Rose’s departure to Hogwarts and that characters use wands a fair bit (and rehearse with drumsticks, perhaps inspired by Daniel Radcliffe breaking so many of his wands on the Potter films after using them in a similar fashion).

In other news, another major fandom is making a comeback this month: Star Trek. Star Trek Beyond hits theaters eight days before Cursed Child debuts its first non-preview performance, and the cast took to London for the premiere. And while there, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and John Cho had the enviable luck to attend the play and meet the stars backstage.
