New Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters Trailer

The second trailer for Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters has just been released by 20th Century Fox and boy does it look good!

The movie which will be a sequel to Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief which was released back in 2010 is based on the book series written by Rick Riordan.

In this installment to the franchise we see Percy, the young son of Poseidon embark on a quest to the Sea of Monsters to find the mythological Golden Fleece that will help save the world. Along with his friends, Percy must fight against terrifying creatures, an army of zombies and the ultimate evil, as well as travelling through the treacherous uncharted waters of the Sea of Monsters known by humans as the Bermuda Triangle.

Among others, Logan Lerman, Sean Bean, Alexandra Daddario and Jake Abel will reprise their roles from the first film as well as being joined by some new, yet equally familiar faces such as Nathan Fillion and Stanley Tucci.

For many fans, the first film Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief which was directed by Chris Columbus did not live up to the book written by Riordan and originally published in 2005.  The transformation from page to screen saw the near complete alteration of the original plot, with some fans criticizing how some of the characters in the film had been portrayed unlike the how they were in the books.

One of these alterations which didn’t go down that well was Percy’s friend and potential love interest Annabeth, whose brown hair in the film went against the fan’s image of her character who is depicted in the novels as blonde. However in the sequels trailer  it seems that this has been corrected and fans have already taken to Twitter to voice their relief.

Percy Jackson has a huge fan-base and it seems that the sequel, which many were uncertain would even happen, may just give hope to the revival of the series future as a movie franchise.
