“Name of the Star” Party in London, Oct 22

Author Maureen Johnson will be celebrating the release of her latest book, Name of the Star, in London this month. The main event (which is set to be a party plus cake, the author promises) is open to the public and will take place at:

King’s Road Waterstones in Chelsea

Saturday the 22nd of October

Name of the Star is the first the bestselling author’s new series, Shades of London. It is set in modern day London, where an American boarding student becomes unwittingly entwined in a Jack-the-Ripper rip-off. Kirkus Books says the book is “genuinely terrifying but never loses the wit, verve and humor that [protagonist] Rory carries with her throughout”; Locus Magazine says there is a “Doctor Who-ish quality to the book – in both its technology and its tone”, and School Library Journal says the author “turns paranormal on its head, mocking vampires and werewolves while creating ghosts that are both realistic and creepy.” What else needs saying? Nothing! We’re in! See you there!
