Editor

The barrage of Fantastic Beasts news continues! This week has already seen reveals of the title art and website, a first look at images from the film, and our first plot details. Now several character descriptions have been released courtesy of Entertainment Weekly and we have even more insight into who Newt Scamander will encounter on his adventures in New York.

Meet the characters of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them below:

Newt Scamander
(Eddie Redmayne)

The world-traveling English magizooligist at the center of our tale visits New York City with his bigger-on-the-inside suitcase full of rare magical animals.

Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein
(Katherine Waterston)

Demoted from her position at the Magical Congress of the United States of America (or MACUSA, the American Ministry of Magic) for trusting the wrong person, Tina is ready to stand up for what’s right.

Queenie Goldstein
(Alison Sudol)

The free-spirited younger sister and roommate of Tina. Queenie is skilled at legilimency, which means she can read minds.

Jacob Kowalski
(Dan Fogler)

A factory worker and baker. The Potter universe’s first non-magical (or No-Maj, the American wizarding word for Muggle) main character, Jacob learns about wizards when he encounters Newt.

Graves
(Colin Farrell)

The right hand man to MACUSA’s president and a powerful auror. An image of Farrell’s character has not yet been released.

Mary Lou
(Samantha Morton)

She leads the hateful Second Salemers, a group that is out to expose and take down the wizarding world. There are no images of Mary Lou yet.

Credence
(Ezra Miller)

The mysterious and troubled adopted son of Mary Lou. An image of Miller as Credence has not yet been released.

Knowing this cast of characters awaits Newt Scamander in NYC, we’re even more impossibly excited for this movie.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premieres November 18, 2016.
