In March, we received our first taste of Mike Colter in his very own show, and at Comic-Con last month, we got an even better look. Today, just weeks before Luke Cage hits Netflix, we were given the full-length trailer we truly deserve.
The trailer gives us some insight into the origin of Luke’s abilities as well as his desire to stick to the shadows. This is definitely in line with the show’s synopsis, which reads:
When a sabotaged experiment gives him super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage becomes a fugitive attempting to rebuild his life in Harlem and must soon confront his past and fight a battle for the heart of his city.
The trailer also offers a first look at Mahershala Ali as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as “Shades” Alvarez, and Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe. Also spotted a number of times is Rosario Dawson’s series-jumping Claire Temple, and it’s clear that she and Luke share some important moments. Back in January, we reported that Temple would have a “large storyline” in the series, playing a “significant” role in Luke’s story.
Luke Cage—and all 13 of its episodes—arrives on Netflix September 30.
