Following Superman vs. Batman, director Zack Snyder will work on a Justice League film. Since it is still in development, it’s unlikely we’ll see the project until 2018, but just the idea of the Justice League on the big screen is enough to get everyone excited.
The big question now is casting. We already have Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck). Wonder Woman has been cast, with the announcement of Fast and Furious actress Gal Gadot. Finally, we have gotten word that Ray Fisher, a stage actor who recently portrayed Muhammad Ali, will be our Cyborg; he will appear in the Man of Steel sequel before Justice League.
So, where does that leave the rest of the team? No confirmation on whether Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as Green Lantern, but many think it’s likely. There are whispers that Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson may be appearing in the cinematic DC universe. We don’t even know which other Justice League characters will be involved, but Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, and Flash would round out the original team. With the CW having a Flash television series, it may be that he (and Green Arrow) will be unable to appear in the film. That leaves Hawkman, Zatanna, and Atom as other possible additions.
We have more questions than answers, but now that we know who’s directing the film we have a clue of what to expect.
