ICYMI: Moana Olympic TV Spot Explores New Footage, Lin Manuel Miranda’s Musical Sneak Peek

In the last Moana trailer we received, we got some precious footage of a baby Moana playing with the water on the shores of her ancient Oceanic home. In a TV spot for the Olympics released earlier this week, Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) is grown up and ready to explore these waters, along with the legendary demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson)

The spot shows us plenty of new goodies from the Disney film, like Moana and Maui’s hilarious friendship and their travels through “a whole ocean of bad.” Said ocean includes some ferociously cute coconut monsters and a terrifying lava monster. We also see more of the shenanigans Maui’s tattoos get up to, as well as the demi-god’s shapeshifting abilities.

Hankering for more? We may have to wait a bit for the next TV spot or trailer, but thankfully Lin Manuel Miranda (one of the movie’s songwriters) always has us on his mind. He took to Disney Animation’s Instagram page and provided us with some of his musical talents. Here, he is joined by the cast and crew of the film and sings the song you hear in the spot above.

And to close it out, here's a new one from #moana with @auliicravalho & @therock! Thanks for letting me play on the #linstagram! #dreamscometrue

And of course, Miranda’s Instagram takeover would be incomplete without a clip of him and Johnson singing Beauty and the Beast‘s “Gaston”, because WHY NOT.

Moana was directed by Ron Clements and Jon Musker. The flick will make a splash in theaters November 23, 2016.
