Sad news, wolf pack. Arden Cho, who plays Kira the kitsune on MTV’s Teen Wolf, won’t be returning next season. Cho made the announcement via a YouTube video earlier this week. “I loved my experience on Teen Wolf,” said Cho. “I love the cast and crew. It’s been an amazing almost 3-and-a-half years. But unfortunately it looks like we are wrapped up with Kira’s storyline and she won’t be coming back for season 6.”
Kira’s most recent character arc revolved around her kitsune overwhelming her, and her working to control it. In order to train, Kira went to the desert to learn from a group of skinwalkers, and if she failed, she’d have to stay with the skinwalkers for ever. She skipped out to help the pack take on the Beast, but the season finale had Kira heading back to the desert in a way that seemed like eventually she’d be back to Beacon Hills. But sadly, that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening.
And her leaving doesn’t seem to be Arden’s choice. “I do wish we would’ve developed a little bit more of her powers and the skinwalkers,” she said.
But old characters are known to pop up in later seasons of Teen Wolf, so who knows? Maybe Kira will return from the desert in the future.
Teen Wolf season six will air on MTV later this year.
