May the odds be ever in Lionsgate’s favor.
It’s just been announce that company is partnering up with Triangular Entertainment and Dutch media company Imagine Nation to bring The Hunger Games to the London stage. A theatrical experience based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novels and their subsequent films is currently being adapted and will be launching in the summer of 2016.
The show will be produced by the award-winning Robin de Levita alongside a slew of other top executives at a new, purpose-built theater next to Wembley Stadium. It will be using innovative and immersive staging techniques to bring the dystopian story to life.
Lionsgate Cheif Marketing Officer Tim Palen released the following statement about the creative groups coming together to make everything happen:
Robin de Levita and the entire production team are the perfect partners for extending The Hunger Games franchise into a live theatrical experience. Their creative genius, combined with world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology will provide a uniquely immersive experience for fans around the world.
De Levita added:
I’m thrilled to be partnering with an innovative next generation studio like Lionsgate on a property that resonates so deeply with global audiences. The theater is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life.
