Guardians of the Galaxy to Appear in Avengers: Infinity War

Two things we know for certain: Vin Diesel has managed to wriggle out of Marvel’s secret-smothering blanket yet again, and everyone is going to be in Avengers: Infinity War. The actor took to Facebook on Friday to do a live stream, and while discussing next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Diesel revealed that the Guardians themselves would be involved in the 2018 Russo brothers film.

It was previously known that at least Peter Quill would reprise his role,  but Diesel’s remarks seem to suggest the whole gang will be back. You can hear his comments yourself around the 20-minute mark in the stream below, but here’s the gist. Talking about his upcoming projects and fan support, the actor stated:

Next year, you’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 coming, and that whole concept started from you all saying, ‘When are you going to be in a Marvel movie, when are you going to be in a Marvel movie?’…What’s going to be surreal is… now the Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that’s incredibly exciting.

The inclusion comes as no surprise given that the third Avengers flick will follow Thanos and his desire to unite the Infinity Stones: the character and one of the Stones were both central to Guardians of the Galaxy’s conflict. Besides the majority of the cast from Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, Anthony and Joe Russo have previously hinted at Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange’s involvement in the film as well.

Avengers: Infinity War is slated for release on May 4, 2018. Its sequel remains untitled.
