Get Ready for More Magical History from J.K. Rowling

The gifts from J.K. Rowling keep on coming. Pottermore announced that tomorrow Rowling will release the first installment of a new series – exclusive to Pottermore – called Magic in North America. The first four posts are called History of Magic in North America and will be released one a day from Tuesday to Friday. According to Time, which has an exclusive preview video of the series, we will learn about Ilvermony, the Salem Witch Trials, the Magical Congress of the United States of America (do you think they have less gridlock than the muggle version?), and skin walkers, a Native American legend.

And that’s just the beginning. We could learn so much in these posts – from the existence of secluded wizard communities like in the U.K. to whether Quidditch is also the sport of choice in North America or whether – like the muggles – the United States wizards have created their own sport.

And – perhaps the biggest question yet – does Ilvermony have houses and if so how are the students (a.k.a all of us) sorted? A hat? By hobby?  A standardized test?

The stories are part of the lead up to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie release this November.

We’ll be back with more fun analysis of the facts from J.K. Rowling later this week. Until then, get your fan fiction fingers warmed up because there is so much more new material coming your way.
