Game of Thrones may soon be hitting the road and adding a “seventh kingdom” to its already extensive list of on-site filming locations.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the HBO hit series is looking to film parts of season five in Spain. The network is said to be in deep talks with a local film commission and is currently scouting possible locations in the Andalusia region. As referenced above, this would make Spain the seventh country in which they have filmed. In addition to the studio in Northern Ireland, GoT has recorded material in Croatia (King’s Landing), Iceland (North of The Wall), Morocco (Slaver’s Bay cities), Malta (also Slaver’s Bay cities), and even briefly in the United States (the bear pit).
Because this is only a report, there is no word yet on what parts of George R.R. Martin’s novels could come alive in Spain. If you’ve got any speculations, let us know in the comments below! We’ll let you know as soon as we know more.
