Another Harry Potter alum is heading to Westeros!
Freddie Stroma has been cast as Sam Tarly’s (John Bradley) brother, Dickon, in the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones. Not much has been revealed about the character in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, but here’s what we do know: Dickon is both younger and more physically capable than Sam. When he began showing all the vigor his brother lacked, their father, Lord Randyll Tarly, devoted his time and attention to raising him as the future heir of Horn Hill. When Sam reached maturity, Randyll forced him to choose between joining the Night’s Watch and renouncing his family name or death. With his brother out of the way in Castle Black, Dickon assumed his inheritance.
Stroma is best known for his role as Cormac McLaggen in the Harry Potter film franchise. He also appeared in Pitch Perfect and recently starred in Lifetime’s critically acclaimed drama UnREAL. He joins a growing list of previously confirmed guest stars, which currently includes Pilou Asbæk as Euron Greyjoy, Max von Sydow as the Three-Eyed Raven, and Ian McShane in an unspecified role.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO next spring.
