After the huge events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier there was much speculation that Brock Rumlow, played by actor Frank Grillo, would return in a third Captain America film as the even more villainous Crossbones. Back in June, Grillo weighed in on the possibility and his hopes that they’d set the groundwork for the Marvel villain’s origin story.
Though Grillo’s reps have stated he is still not officially confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War sequel, recently Entertainment Weeklycaught up with Frank Grillo and he had plenty to say which implies a casting announcement may not be too far off.
He mentioned being involved in some possible pre-production costume preparation and continues to be very on board with the prospect of returning to the Marvel cinematic universe.
[Winter Soldier] was only a taste of what’s to come with the next film, and I couldn’t be more humbled and excited. They just kind of called and said, ‘What kind of shape are you in? We’re going to need a body scan.’ They scan your body so that whatever you wear fits you like a glove.
That sounds promising. Grillo also offered some insight into what his Crossbones might bring to another film.
He’s a badass. He is just vicious. I like the idea that it’s no holds barred. I love the physicality. We all know what Crossbones represents in his world.
Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
