First Teaser for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Throws Us for a Loop

In honor of Loop Day, the upcoming film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children released its first teaser trailer. Check it out below!

This teaser doesn’t show even a frame from the movie, but does foreshadow Loop Day, a key plot point in the series of books by Ransom Riggs. In the books, Miss Peregrine’s is located on a time loop of September 3, 1940, hence the trailer’s release date.

It’s also pretty foreboding and creepy, but that shouldn’t surprise you, since Tim Burton is driving the bus.

Along with the trailer, the 20th Century Fox YouTube channel revealed this synopsis:

When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their powerful enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.

Tim Burton is directing Miss Peregrine’s, and so far, the setup is looking pretty fantastic. Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class, Stardust) is writing the screenplay, and the film is set to star Eva Green (Penny Dreadful), Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Ella Purnell (Maleficent, Kick-Ass 2), Allison Janney (The West Wing, Juno), Terence Stamp (The Phantom Menace), Rupert Everett (Stardust), Judi Dench (Skyfall) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers).

The series author Ransom Riggs also celebrated Loop Day yesterday, with some pretty hilarious results.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is set to hit theaters March 4, 2016. In addition, the third book in the Miss Peregrine’s series Library of Souls is released on September 22.
