After having expectations completely blown out of the water with last October’s release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Illustrated Edition, fans have been waiting anxiously for new information on the release of the second book of the series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Today, BuzzFeed has revealed an exclusive first look at the upcoming book!
Expected to hit stores October 4, 2016, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Illustrated Edition will continue Scholastic/Bloomsbury’s mission to re-release all seven Harry Potter books fully illustrated over the course of seven years. The first release was met with wild critical and fan acclaim, and even J.K. Rowling herself had nothing but wonderful things to say: “Seeing Jim Kay’s illustrations moved me profoundly [...] I love his interpretation of Harry Potter’s world, and I feel honoured and grateful that he has lent his talent to it.”
The second book lives up to the reputation of his talent. Check out the cover, featuring Harry, Fred, George, and Ron in the flying Ford Anglia as they prepare to land outside the Burrow:
The book will feature over 115 illustrations by Jim Kay, who was awarded the Kate Greenaway medal in 2012 for his illustrations in A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Here’s another look at the upcoming release:
If the rest of the book is as gorgeous as these images, we know we’ll be more than satisfied!
