Dylan O’Brien’s Return For Teen Wolf Season 6 Confirmed

After five seasons of MTV’s Teen Wolf one thing should be completely clear: You can’t keep a Stiles Stilinski down.

The same could be said for Dylan O’Brien, the actor who has played the boy who runs with wolves for the past six years. In April, O’Brien was injured in an accident on the set of Maze Runner: Death Cure. Filming on the third Maze Runner film has been indefinitely postponed, but MTV has confirmed that O’Brien will be back and at the center of the action (though likely will more stunt double presence) for Teen Wolf season 6.

All the photos from the set below were taken before Maze Runner: Death Cure filming began, so the injury to Stiles’ right hand is unrelated to that accident. It is a separate, previous injury O’Brien suffered that was then written into the show. The clearest shot so far comes from Entertainment Weekly.

Jeff Davis discussed Stiles’ crucial role in the new season’s arc with EW:

Stiles is a big part of the season because a lot of this season’s mystery revolves around him. We’re going to see just what Stiles’ friendship means to Scott, Lydia, and Malia. We’re going to see why exactly he’s Scott’s best friend, what it means that he’s Malia’s human anchor, and what his will-they-or-won’t-they relationship is with Lydia.

Here are a few more photos from MTV:

Speaking of returns, it’s now even more unlikely that Derek Hale will reappear even for a much-hoped cameo in the upcoming season, thanks to Tyler Hoechlin’s busy schedule. He’s landed the part of Clark Kent/Superman in season 2 of Supergirl as well as a role in the Fifty Shades sequels.

We’re expecting lots more info about the new season when the Teen Wolf cast – we’re presuming that includes O’Brien – make an appearance for their panel at San Diego Comic-Con Thursday July 21 at 4:30 PT.
