In an effort to support the families of the victims of the Orlando shooting, the New York Times has announced that DC Comics and IDW will be publishing a comic called “Love Is Love.” The book will cost $9.99 and will be available in December, the proceeds from it will go to fund Equality Florida.
In a quote given to the New York Times, editor and organizer Marc Andreyko said:
I’m a child of the 80s; I grew up with ‘We Are the World’ and Live Aid.”… “Events like this shouldn’t be compartmentalized, they should hurt and we should want to change for the better.
Andreyko paired writers and artists together to create 1-2 page stories for the upcoming release. Contributors mentioned in the Times article include Damon Lindelof, Patton Oswalt, Phil Jimenez and Olivier Coipel.
In light of the announcement, other writers and artists are commenting on their involvement on Twitter.
I’ll be doing a 2-page story in the “LOVE IS LOVE” anthology, with art by the incredible @MollyOstertag
