CW Renews 11 Series, Including Supernatural, The 100, and Full DCTV Lineup

The CW isn’t wasting time for theatrics as we quickly approach renewal season. While the other networks continue to debate which programs will see another season this fall, the CW has decided to hand out early renewals for all 11 of its scripted lineup!

Here’s the full list of renewals:

Arrow (season five)
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season two)
Legends of Tomorrow (season two)
The Flash (season three)
iZombie (season three)
Jane the Virgin (season three)
The Originals (season four)
Reign (season four)
Supernatural (season 12)
The Vampire Diaries (season eight)
The 100 (season four)

This includes all 10 series currently on air, as well as Reign, which doesn’t even return until next month. Episode counts have not yet been revealed, nor which time slots or premiere dates the shows have received, but Mark Pedowitz remains committed to “a year-round schedule that includes making a bolder push with originals in the typically lower-rated summer period.”

“The CW has become home to some of the most critically acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” Pedowitz said in the announcement. ”As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”

The CW has certainly made itself a standout network over the last few years, earning a number of awards and critical attention that had been relatively slim before. It has taken great strides in securing high-level talent for its lineup, and it’s easy to trust that their decisions to renew are the right ones. They’ve especially secured high ratings with their DC comics TV lineup, which rivals Marvel’s own lineup on ABC.

The only show with an undetermined fate is the midseason drama Containment, which doesn’t see its premiere until April.
