Benedict Cumberbatch is basically going to be in every single movie for the next two years.
The most recent rumor from the mill is that he’s currently in negotiations to play archaeologist and explorer Percy Fawcett. Based on New York Times’ contributor David Grann’s novel The Lost City of Z, the film itself has been in a sort of stasis since late 2008, when Variety reported that James Gray had been brought on to direct. At the time, Brad Pitt was slated for the starring role which made sense considering the project was optioned by his production company, Plan B Entertainment, as well as Paramount Pictures. Pitt appears to have opted for producer and the film remains with Plan B and Paramount. Gray will still adapt the script as well as direct.
With 12 Years as a Slave, The Fifth Estate, The Imitation Game, and two more Hobbit films accounting for only half of what his name’s been attached to for the next few years, as well as the filming of season three of Sherlock wrapping on September 1st, I honestly have no idea when the man sleeps.
