Earlier this week while promoting his new movie Black or White, actor Anthony Mackie, the Falcon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared some details on the upcoming third installment of the Captain America film franchise, Civil War. Mackie revealed that Falcon will be getting a new costume for the movie and said that “Cap 2 was really Avengers 1.5, and Cap 3 is going to be Avengers 3.8.” He also noted that the film would be “everything you can imagine.”
According to Mackie, this film will be the biggest Marvel movie yet. Yes, even bigger than The Avengers. But what does this mean? We already know that Civil War will be a screen adaptation of the 2006-2007 Marvel Comics event of the same name, a fact that makes this movie an even bigger deal than most other MCU films for fans of the comics. And even if you haven’t read the comics, the number of heroes in the film that have been announced thus far almost reaches the level of The Avengers and Age of Ultron. The lineup includes Black Widow, the Falcon, Iron Man, the Winter Soldier, and, of course, Captain America himself, so the cast alone should be more than enough to get any MCU fans pumped for its release.
