Over the past week, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has added two new faces to its roster and given us our first look at another newcomer for the show’s upcoming season.
First, IGN reported that none other than Jess Bhamra herself, Parminder Nagra, would be hitting up S.H.I.E.L.D. for a multi-episode arc. Her character? A high-ranking political figure who is openly against Inhumans and the danger they pose to society. Episode three will serve as Nagra’s untrusting debut—and we’re sure Daisy going rogue is not going to help matters. Besides starring in 2002′s Bend It Like Beckham, Nagra is well-known for her longtime role as Neela Rasgotra in ER. The actress also appeared on the first season of The Blacklist.
The second casting announcement comes courtesy of TVLine, who revealed that Galavant‘s Mallory Jansen would be playing the robot AIDA in season four. We first heard AIDA in season three’s finale as she spoke to Dr. Radcliffe while he activated the Life-Model Decoys program, the latter wishing her a “happy birthday” as he began to give the AI a human form.
Finally, we’ve been granted our first peek at Jason O’Mara’s unnamed Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Two weeks ago, we reported that season four would see a O’Mara step into Phil Coulson’s recently-vacated shoes, portraying a character whose “roots go back to the 1940s”. Based on the photo below, O’Mara looks like quite an approachable director, but we know this won’t be the case. According to Marvel’s Head of TV Jeph Loeb, the character will “challenge even the most loyal agent”, so we can be sure to expect a tumultuous ride. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC September 20.
