The Marvel universe is expanding on ABC with official word at last about the Agents of SHIELD spinoff series Marvel’s Most Wanted.
News of the series’ consideration, the network’s passing, and then a possible renewed interest and greenlight has been around since August via various sources, but ABC had not commented on it directly. Today at TCA, ABC president Paul Lee confirmed for the first time that a pilot order was made for the series.
Marvel’s Most Wanted will focus on current Agents of SHIELD characters Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki), who also goes by the moniker Mockingbird, and her ex-husband and fellow agent Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).
Lee’s comments showed that ABC is firmly behind the project, not to mention the implication that Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter still have strong backing at the network.
We are absolutely doing that one. We love the script. We think it’s great… We feel really good about our Marvel franchise.
The series will join ABC’s Marvel television line up of Agents of SHIELD, which returns from winter hiatus in March, and Agent Carter, which returns for its second season premiere next Tuesday, January 19. ABC has also given a greenlight to a fourth Marvel series based on the Damage Control comics.
